“Law” is the foundation of our constitution. In India the law education is the only legal education.

LL.B courses are available in India

Five years integrated course,

The five-year course is available immediately after finishing high school in the under graduate setting. There are many universities in India, providing for 5 years. You can enter any of the University issuing the respective entrance tests. In order to qualify for the CLAT, the candidate must have obtained a Sr secondary certificate (10 + 2) or equivalent recognized by the board of at least 45% aggregate (40% in SC and candidates ST) and age limit is 20, as in (22 for SC and ST candidates)

CLAT test students in English, legal aptitude, logical reasoning, general awareness and quantitative aptitude.

In addition to the CLAT some other universities, they provide for 5 years integrated courses for example the National University of Law, Delhi, symbiosis of the Faculty of Law, Asian Law college, UPES-dehradoon who run their entrance exams separately.

In addition, some universities are taking LSAT score for the admissions. LSAT test is conducted by the Law School Admission Council.

In addition, there are the state level universities conducting entrance test, which will take you to the relevant universities.

Three Year Graduation Course

You can also opt for a three-year period after completing your degree. The applicant must have completed his / her degree in at least 50% of the grades. Universities offer three-year courses include The University of Delhi, the Hindu University of Varanasi, the State University of Law [Bombay], the ILS Law University, etc.

3-year course includes basic issues of law, according to jurisprudence, criminal law, business law, intellectual property laws, etc.

Materials over 5 years, will depend, of course B.A.LLB or BBA LLB. In addition to the basic issues of law, these courses also include subjects related to art [history, sociology, political science] and commerce [accounting, economics, etc.]

Practical training

Most colleges offer little practical legal training to students to understand how the law works in the real world. In general, legal education in India is very theoretical. Students can sometimes gain insight into a real working environment through internship programs with practicing lawyers, law firms, NGOs, BP and judges.

Now when we have introduced both the 5year course and 3yr law course to you, you have to decide which course to follow. You can either start at UG level or can do graduation first and then pursue LLB but in both the cases one has to pass the entrance and for that you have to study subjects like quants, reasoning, Gk and English and basic legal awareness.
